Advice on Safety

- While getting used to your chosen FunkySlings product, support your baby with your hands to get used to the extra weight. You will soon be confident enough to use your sling or wrap hands free.

- All FunkySlings products are suitable for babies of any age but you must always ensure that your baby (especially newborn) does not shift to one side where it could potentially slip through a leg opening if not tied correctly and fall to the ground. Keep your baby secure by tying all Wraps and Mei Tais tightly. With pouches always ensure that there is enough fabric between baby and you.

- Practice wearing your carrier before using it to make sure you know how to correctly and safely use it. There are various ways of wearing FunkySlings products and while it may take time to get used to it you are guaranteed to find your perfect fit.

- Prevent falling or tripping but holding on to door frames or stairgates when walking about. Take extra care when moving through doorways as it is very easy to bump baby’s head against the door frame.

- Do not wear your baby in situations that could prove dangerous such as cooking, ironing, dealing with hot food or beverages …

- When bending down, bend at the knees and always hold your baby close. Never bend down head first.

- Once your baby is more active and can reach out, bear this in mind and keep away from dangerous objects.

- When wearing your baby for longer periods, change positions to avoid straining your back or shoulder. Your baby might also appreciate the change of view.

- Practice back carries on soft surfaces or while standing above the settee or bed. You could also practice with a large doll or teddy. It takes practice but will be worth it.

- Check the seams, rings and straps regularly. While we guarantee you high quality baby carriers, you alone are responsible for correctly using them.

- If your FunkySlings product has a pocket, be careful of what you put in it. Keys can scratch baby’s delicate skin.

- Don’t let your baby play with your FunkySlings product as Wraps or Mei Tai straps can easily be wrapped around his or her neck.

- Always apply sun cream to your baby’s sensitive skin when outside as baby carriers don’t protect from sun damage to your baby’s skin.

- Soft carriers are not suitable for travelling in a car. Your baby should ALWAYS be in an approved infant seat during car journeys.

- Keep any tails of ring slings or wraps out of harm’s way as they can easily get caught in doors or catch fire if in contact with anything flammable in the kitchen.

- Whilst our FunkySlings products are suitable for all babies in most situations, please bear your baby’s comfort and safety in mind and ensure that during sports activities they may be bounced or shaken too much whilst in your FunkySling.

- ALWAYS trust your instincts and follow common sense.
